Namibia

The Republic of Namibia covers a surface area of around 825,000 square kilometres in the south-west of Africa, bordering on its neighbours Angola, Zambia, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe. No more than around two million people live in an are over twice the size of Germany. And Namibia’s landscape offers everything which makes up the charm of Africa: vast steppes, impressive mountain ranges, endless deserts and a picturesque coastal region.

Namibia is a paradise for safaris and discovery trips. As the country with the second lowest population density in the world, Namibia has vast unspoilt areas. Here and in the national parks and reservoirs, large populations of wild animals and plants have been able to develop. The Namibian climate is generally subtropical with slight differences in the various regions of the country. For example, the climate on the coast is influenced by the cooling Benguela Stream, while the air in the highlands tends to be dry so the heat is easier to endure. The hottest months are December and January with daytime temperatures of over 30 degrees.
