Hiking on the farm

Breathtaking! This feeling awaits the participants of the game drive sundowner. The 2-3 hour long hike on the farm

Farm visitors can virtually unlimited move to the 18,000 hectare area. Before their migration, the short and instructed hikers can explore on your own Africa. Respect wildlife and fauna as well as common sense and respect for nature are desired as a companion of any hike Okomitundu.

Day Tours

We invite you to our nature drives, walks, wildlife - and take part in bird watching. On request, we will take during the regular nature drives you like various special activities. Nature & Game Drives

Old dam
We, with our picnic basket and spend about an hour in the manor at the old dam! Here we see all the animals that come to the waterhole. Often there are good opportunities to take pictures of different animals. In the dry season, we meet here in the late morning, the warthog, the wallowing in the mud like. This watering hole is visited regularly by many kudu and zebras!

Leopard Trail
We climb the hill with you to the owls and show you our nature trail "Leopard Trail. Along the way, we will show and explain many of the selected native trees and shrubs on the basis of our "tree list". Adventure: sundowner on the tip of owls!

Kuduposten and Elandtränke
We'll take you over the pedestrian post which Kuduposten and Elandtränke. At all wildlife watering and along the way, there are many occasions, various antelope and birds. We are happy to take the "bird-Okomitundu leader", which was collected by the students of "Okatumba Research Station" on Okomitundu special.

Felixposten
A little sundowner drive to the Felix items for game viewing at the old manor embankment, soft drink, drive back along the Owls top. Perhaps we see today a leopard on the rocks of the owls tip?

Kudufläche and Mathildenhöhe
A beautiful, short nature & wildlife tour of the jackal items that Kudufläche and Mathildenhöhe, perfect to win a first impression of the varied fauna and flora. A refreshment break at the height of Mathilde and the beautiful view overlooking the facility awaits you!

Special opportunity:
At your request, we are willing to slightly earlier and earlier exit and prepare you for the sunrise, a champagne breakfast on Mathildenhöhe!

Nicodemus post
We drive to Nicodemus post, past the nose of the mountain and the mountain path up to the presidential chair Lieven. On this tour you will see different landscapes and especially a great variety of plants. Sundowner at the President's chair, where you can see above all the many different small animals.

Special opportunity:
In the rocky hills at the Nicodemus items, several bearing points are from the Stone Age. Once there, the Bushmen have went about pottery, rock art and arrowheads left, we proudly present. It may be nothing removed, new references are drawn on a map.

Apostles mountains
We'll take you in the Apostles mountains in the north-eastern boundary of the farm Okomitundu.
You see the Oryxdamm the Kududamm, the old sheep post which Perlhuhnposten and Zebra dam.
There are sheep on Okomitundu not more, but do the names of the other wildlife watering you which animals are seen here particularly numerous.
Duration: 2 -3 hours

Special opportunity:
If you do it and time permits, we will be happy with a trip to a cave hyenas. Here, in the midst of the Apostles mountains, lived for some years a large hyena family. We regularly find many trails and many eroded bone. Perhaps we see today a brown hyena?
We are looking for a nice big shady camel-thorn tree in one of the many dry rivers and let us down for a delicious picnic followed by a siesta in the soft sand area.

Birdwatching
By Felix posts the road takes us over the cliff and the embankment dam Springbok back home. There are good opportunities to observe especially birds.

Sundowner
To a nice sundowner we want to be on Mathildenhöhe! For now we take you through the posts, the jackal Kudufläche where you can see in the late afternoon are always a lot of antelope.

Sunday 08:30 to 12:00
Through the wildlife area, we drive to the source and Joseph in the Ousemarevier. We will find some leopard tracks! After a short picnic break, it goes further along in the area, here we find beautiful stones to collect and photograph interesting plants. A very nice ride for the whole family!

Sunday 16:00 to 17:00
To a nice sundowner we drive on the Mathildenhöhe!
The wonderful view of the mountains in the evening light is a special experience!

Please remember that all our trips to special sites at least one day should be booked in advance! Regular nature drives fall out then.

Drive to Kuduspitze
A scenic drive through the varied landscape Okomitundu's way up into the Kuduspitze, which rises 400m above the farm house, 1600m above sea level.
Here you Africa lies at your feet! And we treat you to a special picnic or a sundowner!

On the trail of the Bushmen
We drive at the foot of Kuduberg's along the Kudufläche. We ascend the west side of the Kuduberg's and found some caves, have lived in those many hundreds of years the Bushmen. Rock paintings, pottery and stone tools can be found here. Of course, we leave everything in place, each Fund shall be carefully on our "Okomitundu-stone-age card".
